School of Philosophy House System

In Holy Cross Boys’ Primary School, we promote positive behaviour through our four house teams, which is made from our philosophers, Aristotle, Plato, Socrates and Mill. These house teams are made up of children from each year group. Each team works together to gain house points which are awarded by all members of staff. House points mean prizes!

Children will receive points for positive behaviour, effort, showing care/respect for others, following school rules etc. Inside the classroom, your teacher will give points and also you can receive points outside the classroom.

Your good behaviour will be recognised with points on the Class boards which are displayed in the classroom.  Teachers will be given photo of every child this morning to put in to team group around board for display.

Children’s individual scores are totalled on a Friday each week and this contributes to their house total. (Collection sheets will be sent around on Friday after lunch with Captains of each house). 10, 8, 6, 4 will be awarded each week to the 4 houses. This will be done by the captains and vice captains.

A photograph of these 16 winners will be displayed in the front hall.

The results will be displayed in the main entrance on Monday mornings. The display will show: A: The house totals for previous week, B: Each house progress to date & C: Photos of every weekly winners.

PRIZES: House winners will be recognised and receive appropriate rewards, e.g. Wear own clothes, DVD or afternoon sports. House winners at the end of the year will get a special prize. Your teacher may want to give a prize for the winning team in your class.

Every child will wear a badge showing their house colour/name. A child can only score points when wearing badge and a child will pay 50p to get a replacement badge.
